What's all that mean?

Supporters are usually human or animal figures placed on either side of a shield as though supporting it.  Additional items or Additaments, are an addition to a coat of arms indicative of personal rank, hereditary office or mark of a royal favor. The compartment is a grassy mound or other solid base, often elaborately blazoned, on which the supporters stand.  In the case of Gordon, the compartment or grassy mound has rock ivy.  Two silver or white (argent) deer hounds are the supporters and they are wearing red (gules) collars.  Each collar has (charged) three gold (or) buckles.
