This month we added copies of our annual newsletters stretching back to 1961 to our online shop. The newsletters contain a wealth of information, not only about the history of the clan, but the origins and history of our own clan society. They’re available in pdf format and have been scanned over the last year or so. Although the majority of the history of the publication is covered there are a few specific years that we still need copies of – so if you have any copies of newsletters from 1962, 1963, 1968, 1972 and 1981 we’d be delighted to hear from you!
Some of the fascinating items included in the newsletters include mention of our previous Chief’s address to the forces during the Second World War, and the establishment of a new Scottish airline named Scotair in the 1980s, for which the Chief and Council approved the use of Gordon tartan in their uniforms!
The House of Gordon would like to thank Richard Torrance, our long-time member and a volunteer at the Scottish Genealogy Society for his assistance with the digitisation project.
