This month saw the publishing of the 2018 House of Gordon Newsletter, the first in 16 years. Now sent to our members, the 72 page newsletter contains a great deal of interesting news about the society and clan, as well as several in-depth articles about the history of the family.
For the first time, the cover was graced by a magnificent photograph of Gordon Castle, the former seat of the Dukes of Gordon, and indeed it contained a fascinating article about the history of this important part of our clan history, as well as a tribute to the late Major General Bernard Gordon-Lennox, for so many years the trusted guardian of that ancient place.
Articles inside include coverage of the dangerous fire that threatened our ancient seat of Dunrobin, a history of the scandalous Gordons of Gight, and a look at how the complex intrigue of the 1st Earl of Huntly fueled his ascent to power in Scotland, as well as many more.
As well as winging its way to our members, copies of our newsletter have been sent to the Conveners of the national House of Gordon organisations abroad, and visitors to both Gordon Castle and Huntly Castle will find it displayed there too.
Contributions for our next newsletter in 2019 are already being sought and a year’s free membership will be granted for any that are chosen to be published. Get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to contribute!
